Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology in healthcare, particularly within pharmaceutical services. Dispensing is a critical pharmacy operation involving medication selection, labeling, verification, and patient counseling. Traditional dispensing is time-consuming and prone to human error, particularly in high-volume settings. AI-powered systems, including automated dispensing machines, computer vision tools, machine-learning–driven verification systems, and clinical decision-support models, are enhancing accuracy, operational efficiency, and patient safety. This review highlights current advancements, applications, challenges, and future perspectives of AI in pharmaceutical dispensing.
