Computer vision is fundamentally transforming modern traffic management and accident detection, moving beyond traditional, reactive approaches to establish intelligent, proactive systems. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of computer vision's pivotal role, detailing its core capabilities, the evolution from conventional methods to advanced deep learning models, and the integration of multimodal sensors, edge computing, and 5G connectivity for enhanced robustness and scalability. Real-world deployments in smart cities demonstrate quantifiable benefits, including significant reductions in congestion, improved safety outcomes, and enhanced operational efficiency.
