The current study addresses is a reasonable analysis of trends in actual solid waste management (SWM) in India, focusing on variations in urban performance across different city sizes and economic profiles. It examined, the period covers recent developments under national initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Solid Waste Management Comments 2016, and subsequent policy updates over the past decade. The study proceeds is using minor data from government reports, municipal performance dashboards, and peer-reviewed literature to assess indicators such as source segregation rates, door-to-door collection efficiency, recycling levels, landfill diversion, and greenhouse gas mitigation. This is involved includes urban local bodies, private concessionaires, community-led organizations, and regulatory agencies, whose roles and governance quality are compared through selected city case studies. The findings suggest that improved governance, citizen participation, and performance-linked incentives can drive higher recycling rates and circularity outcomes, even in smaller cities, while also highlighting the need for stronger fiscal tools, extended producer responsibility, and city-level data standards to sustain long-term environmental benefits.
