Integrating AI and Education: Role of AI in Advancing Personalized Learning and Intelligent Tutoring Systems

Abstract

Higher education is progressively using artificial intelligence (AI)-based learning tools, which provide advantages including more flexibility, real-time feedback, and tailored learning experiences. Nevertheless, there is a lack of recognized methods for designing and implementing these technologies effectively. Regarding learning outcomes, while AI technologies often enhance affective and cognitive knowledge learning, their effectiveness in nurturing cognitive processes and abilities differs greatly. Finally, suggestions for improving the development and application of AI-based learning resources in higher education are given. Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have the potential to revolutionize a number of industries, including education. This article analyzes the anticipated effects of artificial intelligence on education, stressing both the advantages and disadvantages.The paper discusses intelligent tutoring systems, administrative automation, AI-driven individualized learning, and the ethical issues surrounding AI in education.  By offering a comprehensive evaluation and a list of potential directions for further research, this review paper aims to increase the collection of information regarding the effects of technological innovation on the education sector. Although we acknowledge AI as a turbulent force for good, we also draw attention to its drawbacks, such privacy and security risks, and shifts in bias, abuse, and the spread of false information. Lastly, the paper defined the research gaps and posed queries to further our understanding of AI education. This article offers a thorough analysis of AI in Indian higher education.
