Abstract

The Indian IT sector is in a constant state of flux and often goes through alterations such as restructuring, outsourcing, changes in the global economy, etc. These changes commonly accompany a fervour of layoff fears, imposing a considerable amount of mental load onto employees. This study examines how future layoff fears impact the mental health of employees in the Indian IT profession. Through surveys and existing studies, the study identifies common mental health issues like stress, anxiety, depression, job dissatisfaction, and a clear decrease in productivity. The study conveys the importance of clarity where possible from management, resilience-building programs, and proper mental health service delivery as to lessen the impact of layoff fears on the workforce.
