This descriptive study analyses dietary habits among diabetic patients in India, integrating national-level trends and literature from the last five years (2020-2024). Using secondary national estimates (IDF, NFHS-5, ICMR-INDIAB) and synthesized indicators (sugar consumption, overweight prevalence), the report highlights temporal changes in diabetes prevalence, diet-related risk factors, and implications for management. Recommendations include targeted nutritional counselling, community-level interventions, and digital monitoring tools tailored to cultural food practices. Diabetes mellitus is one of the fastest-growing chronic health conditions worldwide, affecting both urban and rural populations. Dietary habits play a crucial role in the prevention and management of diabetes, as balanced nutrition directly impacts blood glucose levels and long-term health outcomes. This descriptive study aims to analyze the dietary habits of diabetic patients, focusing on food choices, meal frequency, nutritional awareness, and lifestyle factors influencing diet. The study also highlights variations across age, gender, and socioeconomic groups. Findings indicate that while patients are aware of dietary restrictions, adherence levels vary, often influenced by cultural practices, convenience, and lack of professional dietary guidance. The research concludes that improved nutritional education and personalized diet planning are essential for effective diabetes management.
