Abstract

Indian agriculture relies significantly on weather patterns and thus faces significant impacts resulting from climatic changes. In recent years, rising climatic variability—like erratic rainfall, heatwaves, floods, as well as droughts—has posed a threat towards crops as well as farmers' livelihoods in various cities. It explores these climatic risks in agriculture in India on a city-specific basis by examining the implications of shifting weather patterns on crop yields as well as farm income. By understanding local climatic challenges as well as farmers' exposure, the research recommends a simple risk forecasting system that applies climatic data on anticipating prospective hazards in advance. The system serves towards offering timely alerts by allowing farmers to engage in precautionary measures as a means reducing losses. Generally, the research contributes towards recommending the development in adaptation as well as sustainability-oriented agricultural practices that can help reduce climatic-related risk factors as well as improve food security towards supporting India.
