The protection of intellectual property (IP) within the digital economy is growing increasingly problematic with mass reproduction, duplication, and web piracy online. Traditional solutions are highly dependent on centralized intermediaries, which create inefficiencies, high cost, and a risk of manipulation [5]. Blockchain technology, on the other hand, gives the world a transparent, tamper-evident mechanism for managing online copyrights, confirming possession, and distributing royalties equitably [1][4]. Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have emerged a leading application of such a mechanism, giving artists and creatives new means for authenticating and profiting from their art. This paper explores the use of blockchain and NFTs for copyright protection, using case examples such as KodakOne [8] and Ethereum [1]. The paper goes on to outline regulatory challenges and sustainability concerns that are a part of NFT implementation [2][3][6][7]. Overall, the paper concludes blockchain-enabled entrepreneurship gives the world at large the hope for creatives of enhanced sustainability and sound economics within the world of the digital economy.
