Abstract

This paper studies how Human-Centered Design (HCD) can work together with Agile methods to improve Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Both HCD and Agile are widely used in modern product development, but they are often applied separately. HCD focuses on understanding users’ real needs, behaviors, and emotions before creating a product. It helps teams design products that people find useful, easy to use, and enjoyable. Agile, on the other hand, focuses on flexibility, teamwork, and fast delivery through short development cycles called sprints. It helps teams respond quickly to change and reduce project delays. When combined, these two methods can create a powerful process that balances speed with empathy. The paper explains how to integrate user research, testing, and feedback directly into Agile sprints. This approach allows teams to stay focused on user needs while still delivering quickly. It also supports better collaboration between designers, developers, and managers. The study includes a review of related research, real-world case studies, and expert interviews. Results show that integrating HCD with Agile improves user satisfaction, team communication, and product quality. It also reduces design rework and speeds up decision-making. The paper concludes that merging HCD and Agile within PLM can create smarter, faster, and more human-centered product development systems.
