Abstract

Women’s safety remains one of the most pressing issues in today’s world. Despite advancements in technology and awareness, cases of harassment, stalking, and violence against women continue to rise. This research presents the design and development of an Android-Based Women Safety Application with Real-Time Alerts and Location Tracking that aims to provide immediate help in emergency situations.
The proposed system enables women to send an instant SOS alert message containing their real-time GPS location to predefined emergency contacts through both WhatsApp and SMS. The app is developed using Java in Android Studio, integrated with Google Maps API for location tracking and SQLite for local data management. Testing results show that the system successfully sends alerts within 2–3 seconds and maintains a location accuracy of 5–10 meters.
The research demonstrates that mobile technology can be effectively utilized to create fast, reliable, and user-friendly safety tools for women. The app’s integration of multi-channel communication, live tracking, and simplicity of use ensures timely help and promotes confidence and independence among women in society.
