Abstract

Agriculture plays a vital role in India’s economy, providing livelihood to nearly 60% of the population. However, one of the major challenges in the agricultural sector today is the gradual disappearance of native seed varieties and the lack of awareness about sustainable seed storage practices. Many species have become rare due to climate change, unscientific storage, and a lack of accessible information for farmers.
SproutLogic is a web-based seed information and recommendation portal designed to solve this issue by providing data-driven, region-specific seed recommendations. The system suggests suitable seeds according to soil type, climate conditions, and crop category while offering detailed guidance on storage, pest control, and fertilizer management. The application was developed using Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, and JavaScript. Through user testing in the Pimpri–Chinchwad region, the system achieved over 90% accuracy in seed recommendations and improved decision-making efficiency by nearly 45%. This research paper discusses the system’s design, methodology, and implementation, emphasizing its role in promoting sustainable farming and biodiversity conservation.
