The most prevalent worm-borne infection that contaminates human body parts is helminthiasis. The worms typically reside in the liver, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs. Helminthiasis is commonly managed with the help of currently available anthelmintic medications, such as albendazole, mebendazole, thiabendazole, niridazole, dietylcarbamazine, ivermectin, and praziquantel. However, there are significant side effects from these medications, including hepatotoxicity, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. Finding anthelmintic medications that are more effective and have fewer adverse effects is therefore essential. The primary healthcare needs of 80% of the world's population are met by traditional medicines and plant extracts, which include active ingredients. The topic of this paper is helminthiasis and how traditional botanicals can be used to cure it.
