Important information in photos is obscured by noise. In image processing, finding an effective way to remove noise is crucial. A significant number of filtering methods have been introduced to address this issue, each employing different strategies for noise detection and removal; in fact, a special filter is made to eliminate a specific kind of noise, such as the low-density impulse noise is effectively eliminated by the traditional median filter, while the high-density impulse noise is not. A thorough review of several impulse noise reduction methods is presented in this study. We examine the drawbacks and limitations of the several filter performance metrics, including MSE and PSNR, after first analysing and comparing them.
