Computer Science Research Paper Publication

A computer science paper should help readers understand both the idea and the evidence behind it. Whether you are evaluating a machine-learning model, analysing a network or studying a software system, explain what changed, how you tested it and which conclusions the results support.

Choose a focused contribution

Computing research can involve algorithms, software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, networks, security or applied systems. Check the IJSCI aims and scope before submitting an interdisciplinary or specialised topic.

State the contribution precisely. It might be an evaluation under a previously untested condition, an improved method, a carefully analysed dataset or a system study with useful findings. Avoid calling an approach novel simply because several familiar tools have been combined.

Describe a reproducible evaluation

Tell readers how the experiments were run. Identify dataset sources, preparation steps, software versions, important parameters and relevant hardware. If results depend on random initialisation or sampling, explain the repeated runs and how variation was reported.

For machine-learning work, describe training, validation and test splits, and check that information from the test set did not influence training or model selection. For systems work, explain the workload, measurement procedure and conditions under which timing or resource use was recorded.

Use comparisons that answer the research question

A performance figure means little without context. Compare with appropriate baselines under comparable conditions and explain why those baselines were selected. Report metrics that reflect the task instead of relying on the one number that looks most favourable.

Examples of useful evaluation details
Study typeDetails to explain
Classification modelClass distribution, data splits, precision, recall and error analysis where relevant
Software or web systemWorkload, latency, failures, resource use and the test environment
Algorithm comparisonInput sizes, runtime, memory use and consistent comparison conditions
User studyRecruitment, tasks, measurement method, consent and study limitations

These are examples, not a compulsory metric list. Choose measures that match the research question and explain the trade-offs the results reveal.

Report limitations and handle data responsibly

Discuss cases where the method performs poorly. A model tested on one dataset may not generalise to another setting; a prototype tested by its developers may not represent typical users. State those limits so readers can judge the findings fairly.

Check dataset licences, privacy requirements and permissions for any third-party material. Remove credentials and personal information from screenshots or shared code. If code or data cannot be shared, explain the restriction and provide the methodological detail that can be disclosed.

Prepare your submission to IJSCI

Use a clear title, a concise abstract and keywords that describe the actual method and application. Label charts, define abbreviations and make tables understandable without forcing the reader to search through the text. Check references to earlier methods and datasets against the original sources.

Review the author guidelines, use the article template and obtain all co-authors’ approval. Submission is followed by editorial assessment and peer review; revisions may be requested.

Publication-fee options

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit a machine-learning or data-science paper?

Consider submission if the work fits IJSCI’s scope and presents a clear research question with supporting evidence. Check the current aims and scope before submitting.

Is a working application enough for a research paper?

A working application can be part of a study, but the paper should explain its research contribution and evaluate it. Feature descriptions alone may not establish a research result.

Do I need to publish my source code?

Check the journal’s current requirements. Where sharing is permitted, code and environment details can help readers understand the work. Explain any restrictions and never expose credentials or private data.

Which fee option includes DOI?

For Indian authors, DOI is included in the ₹699 option. The international-author option is $20 with DOI; ₹499 excludes DOI.
