Research Paper Publication for BSc Students
Science undergraduates often have real results from a dissertation, a lab project or a field survey but are unsure whether it counts as publishable work. This page explains what kinds of BSc work can become a paper, how to present it, and what to check before you submit to IJSCI.
What kind of BSc work can become a paper?
| Subject | Typical work | How to frame the paper |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | Lab experiment, simulation, measurement study | A clear question, apparatus, results with uncertainty |
| Chemistry | Analysis, synthesis, comparison of methods | Procedure, characterisation, comparison with known data |
| Mathematics and statistics | Modelling, data analysis, numerical method | Assumptions, method, verification on examples or data |
| Botany, zoology, microbiology | Survey, culture study, field observation | Site or sample description, method, findings, limits |
| Environmental science | Water, soil or air monitoring | Sampling plan, method, results against a standard |
These are illustrations. IJSCI’s stated scope includes applied sciences and interdisciplinary research; check the Aims & Scope and the manuscript types before deciding.
What reviewers look for
Reviewers judge the work, not the level of the author. They look for a clear question, a method that can be repeated, evidence that supports the conclusion and honest limits. A small, well-reported study is better than a large one with unclear methods.
Check the author guidelines for any conditions on authors, and read the peer review policy so you know what to expect.
Report your data properly
- Give sample sizes, dates, locations and instruments.
- Show units, uncertainty and, where relevant, statistical tests.
- Use tables and figures that can be read without the text.
- Say what you measured and what you calculated or assumed.
- Keep original data and notes in case reviewers ask.
Ethics and safety in the lab and field
If your work involved animals, human participants, protected sites or hazardous materials, state the approvals and safety measures. See the journal’s research and publication ethics page. Never include data you did not collect or cannot verify.
Submission and fees
Prepare your paper with the IJSCI template, agree authorship with your supervisor and submit online. Fees are per accepted article: ₹499 without DOI or ₹699 with DOI for Indian authors, and $20 with DOI for international authors, paid after acceptance.
Frequently asked questions
Can a BSc student publish a research paper?
Reviewers assess the quality of the work. Check the IJSCI author guidelines for any author conditions and confirm authorship with your supervisor.
Which BSc subjects fit IJSCI?
IJSCI’s stated scope includes applied sciences such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, environmental science and biotechnology, and interdisciplinary research.
Do I need ethical approval?
If your work involved people, animals, protected sites or hazardous materials, yes. Follow the journal’s ethics page and your institution’s rules.
What does it cost?
Indian authors pay ₹499 without DOI or ₹699 with DOI per accepted article. International authors pay $20 with DOI. Payment is after acceptance.
