Fast Publication Journal: What “Fast” Should Really Mean

Authors search for a fast publication journal because deadlines are real. But speed and quality are not opposites: a well-run journal can be quick because its process is organised, not because it skips review. This page explains what makes publication faster, and how to tell a genuine efficient process from a risky promise.

What actually makes publication faster

Factors that affect speed
FactorEffect on timeWho controls it
Manuscript quality and formatA clean paper that follows the template avoids returnsAuthor
Fit with journal scopeA good fit avoids desk rejection and resubmissionAuthor
Reviewer availabilityReviews take longer when reviewers are busyJournal and reviewers
Revision turnaroundSlow author responses add days or weeksAuthor
Payment and forms after acceptanceMissing forms or payments delay the final versionAuthor
Editorial workloadIssue schedules and queues affect schedulingJournal

Authors control more of this list than they expect. Most avoidable delay happens before and after review, not during it.

Fast is fine. Skipping review is not.

A journal can legitimately speed up by using online systems, clear instructions and prompt editors. It should not promise that review will be a formality, that acceptance is guaranteed, or that publication will happen in a set number of hours regardless of the paper.

IJSCI states that it follows a peer review process. Read the peer review policy and the publication process page, and ask the editor for the likely timeline for your own manuscript, since it depends on the paper.

How to judge a “fast publication” claim

  • Does the journal describe a real review process, with named roles?
  • Are timelines described as typical ranges, or promised as guarantees?
  • Are fees and their timing stated clearly before you submit?
  • Can you contact a named editor by email?
  • Can you verify its ISSN, DOI prefix and any indexing claims yourself?

Our guide on how to choose a journal gives a fuller checklist.

What to do if you need speed

  1. Choose a journal whose scope matches your paper, to avoid a rejection cycle.
  2. Prepare the manuscript with the IJSCI template and the author guidelines.
  3. Proofread, check references and get your guide’s approval before submitting.
  4. Submit online and keep your paper ID.
  5. Track progress through paper status and answer editor queries quickly.
  6. After acceptance, pay and return the required forms promptly.

Fees and timing at IJSCI

IJSCI’s fees are per accepted article: ₹499 without DOI or ₹699 with DOI for Indian authors, and $20 with DOI for international authors, paid after acceptance. See the charges page. IJSCI is published monthly, which affects when accepted papers appear. Contact the editor for the timeline for your paper.

Frequently asked questions

Is a fast publication journal always low quality?

No. Speed can come from an organised process. Be cautious of journals that promise guaranteed timelines or skip peer review.

What affects how long publication takes?

Manuscript quality, fit with scope, reviewer availability, how quickly you respond to revisions and how quickly you complete post-acceptance steps.

Can IJSCI promise a publication date?

This page does not promise one. The timeline depends on your paper, so ask the editorial office at editor@ijsci.com.

When do I pay the fee?

After acceptance. Follow the instructions sent for your manuscript.
